Kyla Cretekos
Director, Community Engagement

Kyla is a 2013 Nashville alum who taught math at Cane Ridge High School for four years. After teaching, Kyla spent one year supporting college students before feeling called back into Nashville Public Schools. She then spent four years serving as a Communities In Schools Site Coordinator at an MNPS elementary school, serving on the leadership and attendance teams. She joined the TFA Nashville-Chattanooga team supporting our alumni in 2022.

Jeff Takiue
Director, Educational Leadership

Jeff began his career in education as a high school social studies teacher. Since then, he served as a Vice Principal, District Academic Officer, and Elementary Principal in Hawaii. Jeff relocated to the Nashville area and joined TFA staff in 2022. He is excited to support the leadership development and career aspirations of our regional alumni.

David Baird, Managing Director, Chattanooga

David is a bilingual educator from Chattanooga, TN, who has worked across a variety of roles in school leadership and education policy. As Managing Director, Chattanooga, David is excited to lean into the burgeoning movement for racial justice happening in the city and strengthen Teach For America's partnership with community leaders and organizations driving the push for educational equity for all students.

Rachel Tompkins, Managing Director, Alumni Leadership

An AmeriCorps alum and graduate of Vanderbilt University, Rachel began her career in social services with the Tennessee Department of Human Services and continued onto Aegis Sciences Corporation, where she worked with human resources. Rachel joined the staff of Teach For America Nashville in 2014 and worked with the external affairs team until 2018, when she dove into the work of meeting, supporting, and connecting with our alumni network of over 900 in Nashville and Chattanooga.
