More than a Buzzword: Exploring Educational Equity
Walk the walk, put in the work
Have you been asking yourself: "What's next for me?" Where do I fit in the fight for educational equity?"
Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga hosted a virtual workshop led by The Equity Alliance that helped our alums and corps members to develop a deeper understanding of how our own personal theory of change impacts our long-term vision of educational equity. Participants explored and identified opportunities to engage beyond the classroom, and reflect on how collective impact influences policy and the classroom.

School Board Candidates Forum
We hosted a forum to meet the candidates that were running for school board seats in the Davidson County School District.
As members of the Nashville community, we played a vital role in deciding who should fill those seats. This online event helped us understand the role of the school board, who the candidates were, and the process of voting as a civic engagement responsibility.
The event was divided into two different parts, each one of them hosted on different dates.
On Tuesday, July 28th we engaged in a conversation with two school board members who explained to us the role of the board, the main goals, and some of the challenges they experience from their seats during their tenure.
The second part of the event took place on Wednesday, July 29th, where we had a forum with the rest of the candidates running for the school board.
