Hope you all had a great weekend and a great Monday! Time is flying by. Before you know, it will be fall break. Hang in there. You can do it!

I am so proud of all the work you all are putting in! I have spent time in many of your classrooms and can see the hard work you are putting into PowerPoints, relationship building, and grading! It is not going unnoticed. Thank you.

For the next two weeks (until fall break), our Theme will be representation. As we mourn the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I keep thinking about how just her presence as a woman on the supreme court made it possible for other girls to see themselves in that role.

As you prepare your lessons and activities consider these reflections:

  1. Do the examples, art, and stories I choose reflect my students' identities/multiple identities? Are there positive examples of different races, roles, and levels of affluence?

  2. Do I know my students well enough to know their identities/backgrounds? What relationship gaps still exist?

RESOURCES:

ACTION ITEMS:

  1. Check the calendar to see when I am coming to visit your classroom. This week I'll be at Valor! Sorry for the delay I am waiting to hear back from your principals about getting me registered!

  2. If I have observed your classroom, please schedule a time for us to debrief in the next two weeks.

  3. Complete this map with a pin for your hometown ( please go back and add your name if you already did it, so we know which one you are).

  4. Listen and add to our Cohort Playlist!

SHOUT OUT!

SHOUT OUT TO Sommora Pollock (2020 CM - Intrepid Opportunity Academy). She was was voted Teacher of the Month by the entire 8th grade class at her school. 8th graders noted her class is "super interactive" and "she let's us fail and keep trying." Congratulations, Sommora! We are so proud of you. #changemaker

COHORT VISION:

We are 27 change makers with a lot more in common than we think. Our vision is to create closeness and connectivity with one another, our students, and their families to solve problems and create action.

As always, rooting for you!
