“The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see.”
Welcome back, Chattanooga Pioneers!
We hope that you had the most amazing Thanksgiving with lots of good food, good company, and some rest and relaxation!! Now it’s back to the grind for the final push of instruction before benchmarks, end of course tests, and the closing of the semester.
Just as a reminder, we have the town hall meeting with Dr. Stewart tomorrow (Tuesday, December 1st) at 4:30 and Wednesday, December 2nd we have the All Corps Event beginning at 6pm EST. Next week, on December 8th we have our Pathways Post Corps event for 2CMs.
In addition to this we are asking that you send your coach your benchmark data by this Friday, December 4th. I know that some of you don’t teach grades/subjects that require a benchmark test, so you can send any beginning of the year data that you have. For example, kindergarten teachers can send Easy CBM or iReady data. 1 CMs will send their data to Molly and 2 CMs will send your data to Courtney (emails are included below & on the main page). It is very important that we receive data from everyone. The data is needed in order for Teach for America to continue to receive funding through government grants.
I know that this is a crazy week with it being the first week back after a break, 9th-12th graders are on a hybrid schedule, and lots of events that are coming up this week and next. If you need any support transitioning to a hybrid, sending in data, or registering/ attending any of the events please reach out to one of us and we will be happy to support you in any way!
Message from Molly Brown
I’ve been around and introduced already, but I am officially on board FULL TIME now with TFA! My splitting time days are behind me, and I’m so ready to hit the ground running.
I will be working alongside Courtney and Janiel to support the Chattanooga Corps Members. I will be working closely with the 1st year CMs, but 2nd years, you should feel free to reach out if you need anything at all, as well.
This is a great time of year, in those short 3 weeks before Winter Break, to really focus on how to capture your students’ learning growth from this semester, how to connect with them to prepare for a longer break, how to continue to hold high expectations leading up to time off, and to reflect on what went well while setting intentions for the coming semester. In the coming months, our coaching sessions will reflect this focus.
Please feel free to reach out if you have anything you want to problem solve, have any questions, or just want to check in! We will be in contact soon for our next coaching round.
